Not so good stuff, as you may end up hurting people you didn't mean to, but stuff nonetheless. Its simple, explosive, and it gets the job done. Like I said, he's a sad boi acting as a mad boi because, well, as I'd like to think, anger is an easier emotion to channel. I'd never been exposed to something so.beautiful in my life!Īll jokes aside, this peaceful yet somber melody os clearly a reference to the source of Guts' rage: his sadness. Then the male voice kicked in and I completely sobbed. I often joke to myself that the female singing is the souls of Berserk fans who had passed and are singing "Muira, Muira". The moment I was hit with that beautiful yet atmospheric piano I felt my eyes well up. I was planning on drawing some edgy art of whatever (I don't quite remember) and wanted to get myself in the mood and thought "hey this buff dude with the big sword and muscles might be a good way to start!" To give further context, this was before I became a fan, hell, even before I heard of Berserk! When I first heard it my eyes nearly fell out of my socket I was so unprepared for what I was about to hear. Of course I don't mean that in a bad way! Not only that, but the simplicity kind of betrays what your in for: a lack there of. Its pretty much speaks for itself: its a theme about a really sad boi who hides his sadness behind madness. Its the theme of Guts for crying out loud! Does it really need any fancy schmancy gizmos and gadgets?! You know, thinking back on it, I've sometimes pondered why Susumu (the music God who wrote this masterpiece) decided to name this "Guts" instead of, ya know, something mysterious or flashy like most OST titles have. Today I'm gonna attempt to break down one of my favorite and most iconic themes in Berserk and anime history: Guts Theme.
